Social media influencer in soup over RAF personal video during CJP protest, apologises

NEW DELHI: A social media influencer has apologised after facing widespread criticism over a viral video in which she was seen making remarks about personnel from the Rapid Action Force (RAF) during the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protests in Delhi.Shradha Singh, who has more than three lakh followers on Instagram, had shared the video from the protest site.In the clip, she stood in front of seated RAF personnel dressed in blue camouflage uniforms while recreating an advertisement for a toilet cleaner.Pointing towards the personnel, she said, “Neela wala toilet ke liye (blue one is for toilet).” Referring to herself, who was dressed in red, she added, “Laal bathroom ke liye (red one is for bathroom).”The video quickly went viral, with many social media users accusing her of disrespecting the RAF personnel.An apologyFollowing the backlash, Singh shared an apology video, saying she had realised her mistake soon after posting the clip and deleted it within an hour.“I want to apologise to army officers,” she said.Explaining the video, Singh said, “I didn’t make it to mock them or with any malicious intent.”She also denied that she had been pressured to remove the video.“I just felt bad personally, so I uploaded the video to apologise to them,” she said.She was among several content creators and social media influencers who participated in the Cockroach Janta Party-led protests over alleged irregularities in the NEET examination.
