Ranchi: Chief minister Hemant Soren on Thursday called upon newly inducted police personnel to discharge their duties with sincerity and commitment, stressing that ensuring the safety of common citizens must remain their foremost priority.A total of 340 personnel, including 336 constables — 255 men and 81 women — and four deputy superintendents of police, were inducted into the Jharkhand Police, post successful completion of training. Several constables were appointed on compassionate grounds, as their family members had died in the line of duty.Addressing the passing-out parade at the Jharkhand Armed Police-1 ground, Soren highlighted his govt’s initiatives for police welfare, including plans to establish dedicated health facilities for personnel and modern residential schools for their children. He also noted a growing push towards gender inclusion.“Our govt’s commitment to gender equality is yielding results. Around 25% of the newly appointed constables are women,” he said. The CM reminded the recruits that their oath of service was not a mere ceremonial exercise but a lifelong commitment to discipline and duty. He cautioned that policing often involves life-threatening challenges, pointing out that many among the recruits were themselves from families that had made the “supreme sacrifice”.Additional director general Priya Dubey said, “The personnel underwent a rigorous 30-week training programme covering legal provisions, police conduct, human rights, first aid, handling explosives and use of weapons.”Director general of police Tadasha Mishra and other senior officers were present at the event.
