Hazaribag: Three alleged cattle smugglers transporting a stolen cow in a car were arrested in Padma OP area of Hazaribag district late Monday night, police said. The cow was rescued and the car seized.Acting on information that a cow had been stolen near Devchand More on Barhi Road and loaded into a vehicle, a team led by Padma OP officer-in-charge Prabhat Kumar, under Barhi SDPO Radha Prem Kishore’s direction, laid a trap near Alma Nagar More.Kumar said police stopped and searched a car coming from Barhi and found three men inside, with the cow tied by a rope on the rear seat. Police said the accused admitted stealing the cow in Hazaribag to sell it.The accused were identified as Md Maqbool Ansari (42) of West Bengal, Md Shabir Qureshi (33) of Hazaribag and Md Minhaj (27) of Ranchi.
