Tankers & drums seized in Bokaro admin’s crackdown against fuel theft

Bokaro: A joint team of district administrative officials and police personnel on Sunday seized fuel tankers and containers that were used to illegally transport, store, and sell petrol, diesel, and ethanol across Sector-12, Balidih, and Garga Dam areas. A total of 5,000 lts of fuel were also confiscated.Chas SDO Pranjal Dhanda said, “An HPCL tanker, from fuel was being unloaded, and multiple drums containing petrol and diesel were seized near Ranvijay College in Sector-12.”The second raid near the BPCL plant under Balidih police station in Simaldhuhi led to recovery of petrol, diesel and ethanol stored illegally in drums. The supply chain was being mapped by investigators. It belonged to BPCL and was meant for Baliyapur in Dhanbad, he added.“In a third operation, a fuel tanker, several empty barrels, and other equipment used for fuel storage and handling were seized from a slum settlement area near Garga Dam,” he added.Chas SDO Pranjal Dhanda said Strict action would continue against illegal fuel storage and trade as such activities threaten public safety and law and order.”She appealed to citizens to report suspicious fuel-related activity.Authorities were quantifying seized fuel and identifying key operators. Representatives from HPCL and BPCL have reached the sites and are assisting in further legal proceedings.
