Tej Pratap Yadav accuses personal assistant of theft from Patna residence

PATNA: Former Bihar minister and Janshakti Janta Dal (JJD) chief Tej Pratap Yadav has lodged a police complaint against his personal assistant, alleging theft of Rs 20 lakh in cash from party funds along with gold jewellery and other valuables.Yadav, the elder son of RJD chief Lalu Prasad, filed the complaint at Sachivalaya Police Station, stating that the incident took place late on Monday at his residence at 42 Harding Road in Patna.“About 11:30 pm on Monday, my driver Anil Yadav and Vishal, who live with me, saw my personal assistant carrying a bag and fleeing after jumping over the boundary wall of my residence. Both individuals are eyewitnesses to the incident and state that the theft was committed by the PA,” Yadav wrote in his complaint.He further claimed that items including a gold chain weighing over 23 grams, a gold ring, electronic gadgets and mobile phones were also stolen.An FIR has been registered against the accused, identified as Motilal Rai. According to the complaint, four pen drives, two hard disks, an iPad, a MacBook, a Lenovo laptop and four iPhone Pro Max handsets were among the items found missing.Police officers visited Yadav’s residence on Tuesday following the complaint, but did not respond to media queries outside the premises. No arrests have been made so far.The accused is said to be a resident of Vaishali district in Bihar.This is not the first theft reported from Yadav’s residence. In 2022, he had accused a caretaker, Chandan, of fleeing with cash and valuables. Police said all aspects of the case are being investigated and further action will be taken based on the evidence collected.
