Patna: Bihar Museum has partnered with Emami Art and the Kolkata Centre for Creativity to present ‘Vichitra’, a contemporary art exhibition showcasing the works of 14 artists. As part of the collaboration, a discussion on “Collaborating for culture: Public-private partnership in Museum and cultural heritage” was organised at the museum on Friday.Addressing the event, Bihar Museum director general Anjani Kumar Singh said the museum was conceived to reflect the evolving role of such institutions across the world.Richa Agrawal, chief executive officer of Emami Art, Kolkata, said, “We hope greater collaboration between private and govt museums will further strengthen India’s art and culture sector.”The exhibition, being held at the museum’s temporary gallery, features works by Arindam Chatterjee, Anjan Modak, Arunima Choudhury, Kartick Chandra Pyne, Kushal Ray, Lalit Mohan Sen, Partha Pratim Deb, Pradip Das, Prasanta Sahu, Sibaprasad Karchaudhuri, Soma Das, Suman Dey, Tapas Biswas and Ujjal Dey.Representing three generations and working across diverse mediums and techniques, the artists present a collective narrative inspired by the artistic traditions of Bihar and Bengal. The exhibition explores themes such as memory, labour, ecology, migration and everyday life, while highlighting the centuries-old artistic dialogue between the two regions.According to the organisers, the exhibition also examines the shared artistic and cultural heritage of Bihar and Bengal, where artists, weavers and thinkers have moved across the regions for centuries, boosting a continuous exchange of ideas. Rather than presenting a single narrative, it brings together multiple perspectives, generations and artistic expressions.
