Buxar: A video from Bihiya in Bhojpur district showing workers cutting and filling holes on NH-922 has gone viral on social media. The video was shared by the Congress party, raising questions about the quality of road construction.Reacting to the viral video, Arvind Kumar, an official of National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) in Patna, said the activity shown is part of a planned pavement repair and maintenance programme. He said the work is being carried out to improve the condition and durability of the concrete road.According to the NHAI, the cuts visible on the road surface were made intentionally. Workers are installing steel staples in the concrete pavement and then carrying out grouting and sealing work. Officials said this is a standard engineering rehabilitation technique used to repair localised cracks and joints and restore the structural strength of the pavement.The NHAI clarified that the viral video captures only an intermediate stage of the repair process. As a result, the road appears unfinished. The authority said the visuals do not indicate road failure or poor construction quality. Officials said after the stapling, grouting and finishing work is completed, the pavement surface will be restored according to prescribed engineering standards.The NHAI said periodic inspections, preventive maintenance and timely repair of damaged sections are important parts of highway asset management. It said regular maintenance and adherence to engineering standards are necessary for the benefit of all road users.Arvind said the portion of the road has been rectified.
