MUMBAI: A retaining wall adjacent to a residential building collapsed in Mumbai’s Vikhroli West late Tuesday night amid heavy rainfall that lashed several parts of the city, officials said.No immediate reports of injuries were available. Further details on the incident are awaited.The collapse came after intense overnight rainfall across Mumbai, with several areas recording more than 200 mm of rain between 10 pm on June 23 and 6 am on June 24, according to data from Automatic Weather Stations (AWS).Among the highest rainfall figures were 271 mm in Malwani, Malad, 247 mm in Powai, 244 mm in Charkop, Kandivali, and 234 mm in Borivali. Vikhroli recorded 210 mm of rainfall during the eight-hour period.The heavy downpour led to waterlogging in several low-lying areas of the city, including Hindmata, Andheri Subway, Malad Subway and parts of Sion.Civic authorities said drainage operations were undertaken and traffic movement was largely restored.(With inputs from ANI)
