Ranchi: Newly appointed Jharkhand BJP in-charge Gajendra Patel on Monday said the welfare of the state’s tribal communities will be the party’s topmost priority. Patel’s statement came as the saffron party, out of office since 2019, eyes a comeback in the 2029 state assembly election.On their maiden visit to the state since their appointment last month, Patel, along with co-in-charges Nivedita Singh and Saurabh Singh, visited Ulihatu in Khunti district and paid tributes to tribal icon Birsa Munda and his descendants. They also had a meal in the house of the village head.Patel highlighted various initiatives taken by Union govt led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the welfare of tribal communities, including its decision to observe Munda’s birthday (Nov 15) as Janajatiya Gaurav Diwas to honour his contribution to the country’s freedom struggle.“The BJP will strengthen its dialogue and outreach with tribal communities and expand its organisational presence in villages. Issues concerning tribal dignity, rights, development and welfare would be given priority,” Patel said.“The party will expand and strengthen its reach across Jharkhand to ensure BJP returns to office in 2029,” Saurabh said.
