Dhanbad: On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the railways dedicated key operational responsibilities to women across the Dhanbad division on Sunday. In a special initiative, the Dhanbad-Sindri Town passenger train was operated entirely by women staff, showcasing their growing role in railway operations.Women personnel handled the train’s operation on the departure journey, and the same team managed the return journey of the passenger service in the afternoon. From ticket checking to passenger safety, women railway employees were entrusted with major responsibilities throughout the day.Security arrangements on the route were managed by women personnel of Railway Protection Force (RPF), while ticket inspections were carried out exclusively by women staff. At Dhanbad railway station, women staff were deployed at all counters of the general ticket booking office, ensuring smooth ticket issuance for passengers.Senior divisional commercial manager Mohammad Iqbal said that, on the occasion of International Women’s Day, women employees were given charge of several key operations across stations in the Dhanbad division. From booking offices and ticket checking to security and train operations, women staff managed the responsibilities efficiently.At some major stations in the division, women officials also served as station masters for the day, symbolising the railways’ commitment to women’s empowerment and recognition of their vital contribution to the transport sector, officials said.
