Jamshedpur: A 21-year-old student of XLRI-Xavier School of Management died on Friday after allegedly suffering an asthma attack followed by a cardiac arrest. No police complaint has been filed by the family.Om Poddar, a second-year Business Management student of the 2025-27 batch, was found unconscious in his hostel room on Friday morning. He was rushed to Tata Main Hospital (TMH), where doctors declared him dead after examination.Doctors said Poddar died following an asthma attack and subsequent cardiac arrest, though the postmortem report is awaited to ascertain the exact cause of death.“Om’s passing is not merely the loss of a student; we have lost a bright, talented and vibrant member of our XLRI family,” said XLRI dean Father Donald D’Silva.A resident of Kolkata, Om’s bereaved family arrived in Jamshedpur after receiving news of his death. His body was cremated at the Subarnarekha cremation ground on Saturday. XLRI organised a special condolence meeting on Sunday. Students and faculty mourned the loss of their young classmate and friend.
