Yoga day celebrated with enthusiasm at educational institutions

B K Mishra/ TNNPatna: The 12th International Yoga Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm across the educational institutions of the city on Sunday. Lok Bhawan officials, ministers, vice-chancellors, teachers and students participated in yoga sessions organised by different institutions. The theme of celebrations this year was “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” highlighting its role in promoting physical health, mental well-being, emotional resilience and active ageing, contributing to an improved quality of life.Governor-cum-chancellor Syed Ata Hasnain, in a message, called upon the people of all ages to practice yogic exercises regularly for remaining physically fit and mentally sound. The Lok Bhawan officials along with the officials of the chancellor’s secretariat practiced different asanas of yoga under the leadership of additional chief secretary to the governor, Dipak Kumar Singh.Patna University (PU) vice-chancellor Ajay Kumar Singh led a yoga session at Patna Science College ground which was attended by a large number of students, teachers and non-teaching staff. The programme, jointly organised by the National Service Scheme (NSS) and the PU Yoga Centre, was conducted by PU NSS programme coordinator Atul Aditya Pandey. PU students’ welfare dean Kameshwar Singh, proctor Suraj Deo Singh, geology department head Ram Bali Singh, and Patna Science College principal Alka also graced the occasion.Several NSS volunteers from different colleges of PU took part in the programme. The VC exhorted the student community to practice yoga not only for physical well-being but also for propagating love and peace in the society. “Make yoga a part of their daily routine to stay physically and mentally fit,” he said.At Patna Women’s College, the day was celebrated with great enthusiasm by imparting yoga training to the college girls at a programme organised by Daksh and Housla clubs of the college. The session started with a mediation exercise after which yoga instructor Manjula Shushila performed various yogasanas. The college girls performed various asanas, including Surya Namaskar, Vrikshasana, Tadasana, Ardha Chandrasana, Trikonasana, Padmasana, Vajrasana, Ustrasana, Vakrasana, Paschimottanasana, along with Pranayama, Anulom Vilom, and Shavasana.The National Service Scheme of Magadh Mahila College organised a yoga camp near Garima Hostel on the campus in which a large number of students and teachers practiced various asanas of yoga.The Yoga Day was also celebrated enthusiastically at several educational institutions, including Chanakya National Law University, National Institute of Fashion Technology, Chandragupta Institute of Management Patna, Nalanda Open University, and Central University of South Bihar where teachers and students practiced different asanas and understoodtheir importance in life.
