14-year-old Bihar boy drowns in Koderma waterfall
Sagar Kumar stepped onto a slippery rock near the edge of the waterfall to shoot a video but lost his footing and fell into the water

Koderma: A 14-year-old boy from Jehanabad in Bihar drowned in Vrindaha waterfall here on Wednesday while shooting a video on his mobile phone. The deceased, identified as Sagar Kumar, was visiting the tourist spot with his tutor from a local private coaching institute and his six classmates.Police said Sagar stepped onto a slippery rock near the edge of the waterfall to shoot a video but lost his footing and fell into the water. Alerted by locals, a team from Tilaiya police station reached the spot. However, rescue operation could not be launched due to heavy rain and strong currents.“Due to the poor weather conditions, a search operation could not be launched. A team from the National Disaster Response Force will arrive here on Thursday,” Vinay Kumar, the officer in-charge of Tilaiya police station, said. Authorities said repeated advisories have failed to deter tourists from taking selfies and shooting videos at the waterfall.
