Ranchi: Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar and other dignitaries on Wednesday presented gold medals to 71 toppers and certificates to 6,923 students of the Ranchi University (RU) of the 2023-25 academic session during the 39th convocation ceremony of the university.Moreover, Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kolkata director Alok Rai and National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration vice-chancellor (VC) Shashikala Wanjari were conferred with honorary degrees on the occasion.Asking students to not look for opportunities but create them, Governor Gangwar said, “RU is an eminent institution, which has contributed to the state’s social and educational development. Students have the responsibility of making India developed with the knowledge acquired in the university.”Minister of state for defence Sanjay Seth asked the students to remember ‘Nation First’ and work to achieve the goal of a developed India.Citing the 66-year journey of the university, RU VC Saroj Sharma said, “RU has started three courses — MSc (statistics), MSc in data science and MA in education — from the present academic session. RU has also recently opened a wellness centre for the students,” adding “The University Grants Commission (UGC) has declared three colleges affiliated to the RU as ‘college with potential for excellence’.”
