Ranchi: The Jharkhand Education Project Council (JEPC) has instructed district officials to undertake a ground-level assessment of repair and additional infrastructure needs across govt schools, beginning with a detailed technical survey of 80 Mukhyamantri Utkrisht Vidyalayas or CM Schools of Excellence, within a week.State project director of the JEPC, Shashi Ranjan, said, “The initiative would not remain confined to the CM Schools of Excellence. Repair and additional works are required in govt schools across the state. Ground-level requirements need to be assessed so that the work can be planned according to the actual condition and needs of each school.”Junior or assistant engineers, executive engineers, and district programme officials have been directed to visit schools, examine facilities and prepare a consolidated report on repair and additional works needed at each campus. The technical verification will examine the condition of buildings, classrooms and other facilities.According to UDISE+ 2024-25 data, Jharkhand has 35,788 govt schools. While the current directive focuses on the 80 CM Schools of Excellence, officials said the findings would form part of the state’s broader effort to strengthen facilities in govt-run institutions.The 80 schools are considered model govt institutions and have been prioritised for the first round of technical scrutiny. School-wise verification will help determine the nature, scale, and urgency of repairs before decisions are taken on funding, construction or additional infrastructure support, officials said.
