Fast-track Metro work, adhere to deadlines: Minister

Patna: Urban development and housing minister Nitish Mishra on Thursday directed officials concerned to strengthen monitoring of the Patna Metro Rail Project and ensure timely completion of all scheduled works. During an inspection of the metro depot and a review meeting, he asked officials to remove bottlenecks promptly so that construction could progress as per schedule.Mishra reviewed the status of work across different corridors, upcoming milestones and challenges affecting the project. He stressed that regular monitoring was essential to keep the project on track.The minister said the Patna Metro was a key project for improving urban connectivity and aligned with the state gov’s vision of developing modern and well-planned cities. He said efforts should be made to provide residents with safe, convenient and efficient public transport at the earliest.He also directed officials to minimise inconvenience to commuters during construction by ensuring proper traffic management, diversions and alternative routes, along with timely public information.Mishra emphasised close coordination among Patna Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (PMRCL), Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), contractors and other agencies. While stressing adherence to project deadlines, he said there should be no compromise on construction quality and safety.Earlier, the minister planted saplings at the metro depot and called for maintaining a clean and green environment within the project premises.PMRCL managing director-cum-secretary Sandeep Kumar R Pudkalakatti briefed the minister on ongoing works, timelines and future plans. Senior officials of PMRCL, DMRC and representatives of associated agencies attended the review meeting.
