2 killed in East S’bhum & SK road accidents

Jamshedpur: Two people were killed in road accidents that occured in East Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharsawan districts on Tuesday, police said.In the first incident, an elderly man died when his scooter collided with a truck parked along the Hata-Chaibasa Main Road near Telai. “The deceased, identified as Laxman Champia (63), was a resident of Kodarsa village under the Majhgaon police station limits in West Singhbhum district. He sustained serious injuries. Locals sent him in an 108 ambulance to the Rajnagar community health centre (CHC), where doctors declared him rought dead. An investigation has been launched into the accident,” officer in-charge of the Rajnagar police station, Vipul Ojha, said.In another incident, a truck driver was killed in a hit-and-run case at Chandni Chowk on the NH-33 near Gurma village on the outskirts of Jamshedpur in the early hours of Tuesday.“A native of Aurangabad district in Bihar, Vinesh Yadav (52) was residing with his family in Ghatsila. He was returning after delivering a consignment at Ghatshila from Tatanagar. He parked his truck near Gurma and was crossing the road to attend nature’s call when an unidentified vehicle hit him and sped away,” Sachin Das, officer in-charge of the MGM police station, said.Yadav sustained critical injuries and was left lying on the road. Police rushed him to the MGMMCH, where doctors declared him brought dead. The body was sent for postmortem examination and a probe launched, police added.“CCTV footage from the surrounding areas is being examined to identify the vehicle involved in the fatal hit-and-run,” OC Das added.
