Patna: Twenty-five candidates remain in the fray for the July 30 Bankipur assembly bypoll after one candidate withdrew nomination on the final day of withdrawal on Thursday. Polling will be held at 422 booths across 164 urban polling locations for 3.79 lakh voters.Addressing a joint press conference, Patna DM-cum-district election officer Kundan Kumar and SSP Kartikeya K Sharma said elaborate administrative and security arrangements have been made to ensure free and peaceful polling. The electorate comprises 2,00,060 men, 1,79,533 women and 23 third-gender voters. It also includes 4,998 first-time voters aged 18-19, 3,166 voters above 85 years and 1,024 persons with disabilities. Officials said the constituency has achieved 100% EPIC and photo coverage.Kumar expressed confidence of surpassing the 41.3% turnout recorded in the 2025 assembly election and said SVEEP activities were being intensified to boost participation.The SSP said enforcement agencies have seized Rs 2.78 lakh in cash, 2,652 litres of liquor, narcotics worth Rs 39,200, freebies worth Rs 1.86 lakh, besides two illegal firearms and 16 cartridges. Of 2,908 licensed arms in the constituency, 733 have been deposited. Flying squads, surveillance teams and additional police deployment will monitor the constituency to ensure peaceful polling.
