Times News NetworkHazaribag: In a bid to rein in traffic violations and reduce road accidents, Chatra district transport department on Friday night launched a special vehicle-checking drive near Jitni Mor and penalised 57 commercial vehicles operating without mandatory speed-limiting devices (SLDs). The drive, led by district transport officer (DTO) Maheshwari Prasad Yadav, was aimed at intensive inspection of speed-limiting devices. During the operation, 57 vehicles were found violating the norm, and fines amounting to Rs 1.11 lakh were imposed.Besides checking SLDs, officials also verified driving licences and other documents of motorists. Drivers were screened for drunk driving as part of efforts to improve road safety and prevent accidents caused by intoxicated driving.Yadav said, “The campaign was aimed at ensuring strict compliance with traffic regulations and enhancing road safety. Such crackdown would continue in the coming days.”
