697kg of poppy husk seized from H’bag

Hazaribag: Around 697 kg of poppy husk, worth around Rs 10 lakh in the market, was seized from a poultry farm at Rasoiya-Dhamna village under the Barhi police station limits in Hazaribag district on Thursday, police said.Acting on inputs received by SP Aman Kumar that two locals, identified as Bablu Saw alias Bengali Saw and Sunil Rana, had stored a large quantity of poppy husk at their poultry farm and were preparing to smuggle it, a team led by Barhi SDPO Radha Prem Kishore conducted a search operation, police added.“The room where the narcotics were suspected to be stored was found locked. Efforts were made to contact the owner, but no one arrived at the spot. Police, in the presence of the village head and local representatives, videographed the entire process and broke open the lock,” SDPO Kishore said.“Search of the premises led to the recovery of 47 sacks filled with poppy husk. All the sacks were seized and brought to Barhi police station. An FIR has been registered against both the accused under the NDPS Act. Investigation is underway,” Kishore added.
