CID searches former JPSC chairman L Khiyangte’s residence over alleged exam irregularities

Ranchi: A Criminal Investigation Department (CID) team on Thursday searched the residence of former Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) chairman L Khiyangte in connection with alleged irregularities in a competitive examination conducted by the commission.The search at Khiyangte’s residence, opposite the chief minister’s official residence, continued for several hours. Sources said investigators examined documents and records found on the premises.CID officials, however, did not disclose details of the search or any material seized.The action was part of the agency’s investigation into complaints lodged by several organisations and students over the 14th JPSC Combined Civil Services Examination. The CID registered a case following allegations of malpractice in the examination process.Earlier, the agency arrested five people in the case — former JPSC deputy controller of examinations Shweta Gupta; Ramvir Singh, director of TSR Data Processing Private Limited; and Md Usman, Md Ebad and Abhay Kumar Tiwari. All five were remanded in judicial custody.
