Patna: Patna traffic police have issued a traffic advisory for the Independence Day celebrations at Gandhi Maidan on Aug 15. Restrictions will remain in force from 7am until the conclusion of the programme to ensure smooth movement of guests and the public.Traffic on Fraser Road between Dak Bungalow Chowk and Gandhi Maidan (Children’s Park) will remain restricted during the ceremony. Vehicles will not be allowed to enter from New Dak Bungalow Road towards SP Verma Road.General traffic movement between Kotwali T-Point and Police Line will remain suspended. Vehicles coming from Voltas More towards the north will be diverted via Vidyapati Marg and Budh Marg to Police Line Tiraha. Entry to TN Banerjee Road from Chhajjubagh near the SDO residence will remain prohibited.On JP Ganga Path, only passenger vehicles heading towards Gandhi Maidan will be allowed through the designated route near the underpass. Other vehicles will be diverted towards Marine Drive.Private vehicles travelling from Patna Junction towards Dak Bungalow Chowk and further east will be diverted through Bhattacharya Chowk and Peermuhani towards Nala Road. Vehicles entering Exhibition Road may be diverted back from the Smart Bazar cut towards Bhattacharya Chowk if required.The Fraser Road stretch between Dak Bungalow Chowk and JP Golambar will remain reserved for the Governor, chief minister, deputy chief ministers and other VIP guests.Commercial and heavy vehicles will face restrictions on several routes, including Chirayatand Durga Mandir, Mithapur Golambar, R-Block Golambar, Bailey Road between Dumra Chowki and Bhattacharya Chowk, and the Police Line Tiraha-Gandhi Maidan stretch. Commercial vehicles coming from Patna Junction towards Gandhi Maidan will be diverted via Dak Bungalow Chowk, Bhattacharya Chowk and Exhibition Road.City buses originating from NIT-Patna will operate via Gandhi Chowk, Machhuatoli, Dariyapur, Nala Road, Peermuhani and Goria Toli.The restrictions will not apply to ambulances, fire tenders and other emergency services. Invited guests have been asked to reach their designated parking areas by 8.30am. The flag-hoisting ceremony is scheduled for 9am.
