Dumka: A special investigation team of Godda district police arrested seven persons for their alleged involvement in robbing a jewellery store in Godda on July 8 and disposing of stolen ornaments. With it, the total arrests rose to nine.Led by sub-divisional police officer Akash Bhardwaj, the SIT raided Basukinath in Dumka on Thursday and arrested the accused from their hideout. Chandrashekhar Kumar Sah, who was detained in the raid, allegedly admitted his involvement in the conspiracy and disclosed links to jewellery robberies in Jamtara, Bounsi in Bihar, Nonihat and Taljhari in Dumka.He also allegedly told investigators that stolen ornaments from several cases were melted and sold at discounted prices through jewellery establishments in Godda and nearby areas.Based on his disclosures, police searched multiple jewellery shops and recovered 28 grams of melted gold allegedly linked to the Bengal Jewellers robbery, over 5 kg of melted silver connected to theft and robbery cases in Bihar and Jharkhand, and additional gold ornaments allegedly looted from Jamtara.The arrested accused include Puran Sah, Karu Sah of Banka, Shivshankar Kumar of Bounsi, Dhananjay Gaikwad alias Raju of Maharashtra, and jewellery traders Pawan Kumar Sah, Uttam Kumar Sah and Aman Kumar Sarraf of Godda district.Police are examining their criminal records and possible inter-state links.
