Ranchi: The Union home ministry has selected nine Jharkhand police personnel, including inspector general (North Chotanagpur zone) Shailendra Kumar Sinha, for medals on the occasion of Independence Day, officials said on Friday.Sinha will receive the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service. Sub-inspector Pankaj Kumar Rai; havildars Purna Bahadur Singh, Jitendra Kumar Singh, Yogendra Kumar Das, Nand Kishor Mahto, Aurangzeb Khan and Sanjay Kumar Singh; and woman constable Anita Tirkey have been selected for the Medal for Meritorious Service.Sinha said the honour followed an assessment of his overall performance during his service. He had received the Medal for Meritorious Service in 2017 and the Chief Minister’s Medal for Meritorious Service in 2015.He joined service as a DSP in 1995 and was inducted into the IPS in 2006. He has served as the CM’s security chief and held assignments in the CID, vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau.The medals and certificates will be sent to the state police headquarters and presented to the recipients on Republic Day, officials said.
