Hazaribag: Two persons were killed and two others injured in three accidents in Hazaribag’s Danua Valley on Saturday night, police said.In the first accident, a truck travelling towards Bihar on GT Road veered off the road and fell about 60 feet into a gorge. Driver Arvind Kumar, 30, a resident of Bihar’s Chapra district, was rescued from the vehicle and taken to Chouparan community health centre, where he was declared dead.Choradaha picket in-charge Nitish Kumar said police and locals took several hours to retrieve the occupants from the vehicle. The co-driver, who was trapped under the cabin and the truck’s load, was also found dead. His identity had not been established.In another accident near Jodirahi bridge, a trailer carrying a prefabricated portable office cabin from Ranchi to Patna overturned in a roadside ditch. Driver Jagdish Das, 42, a resident of Barhi block, and co-driver Rameshwar Ravidas, 25, of Koderma suffered critical injuries. They were taken to Chouparan CHC by the NHAI 1033 and 108 ambulance teams.A dust-laden trailer also overturned in a roadside ditch in the valley. No injuries were reported.The three accidents have prompted renewed calls for a review of road design, safety barriers, lighting and the movement of heavy vehicles along the stretch.
