Patna: The Bihar unit of BJP will organise an extensive monthlong campaign from Sept 17, to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s completion of 25 years in public life. The month will be observed as ‘Seva Maah’ (month of service), with programmes focusing on service, public welfare, dedication and nation-building, BJP state president Sanjay Saraogi said on Monday.A state-level workshop was organised at the BJP state office here to chalk out preparations for the campaign. At the workshop, Saraogi guided party office-bearers and workers and reviewed the proposed programmes, organisational arrangements, responsibilities and measures to ensure greater public participation.He said the BJP has traditionally observed the Prime Minister’s birthday as ‘Seva Pakhwada’, but this year the initiative has been expanded into a monthlong campaign to mark the milestone of Modi completing 25 years in public life.Saraogi said the period from Oct 7, 2001, when Modi became chief minister of Gujarat, to Oct 7, 2026, would mark 25 years of his service in constitutional office. He described the journey as a period of “tapasya” and said Modi had consistently followed the principles of ‘Antyodaya’ and ‘Nation First’.The BJP functionary highlighted welfare initiatives including Jan Dhan, Ujjwala and PM-Kisan, besides the construction of the Ram temple and abrogation of Article 370, as major achievements of the Modi govt.He said the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ would seek to take the benefits of govt schemes to eligible beneficiaries who may have been left out, while party workers would engage with youth and promote the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’.Several ministers, MLAs, district presidents and senior party office-bearers attended the workshop. A team led by state general secretary Nitin Abhishek has been constituted to coordinate the campaign across Bihar.Saraogi expressed confidence that the ‘Seva Maah’ would set a new benchmark for service and public participation in the state.
