Ranchi: A delegation of JMM, Congress and the RJD on Thursday accused booth level agents (BLAs) appointed by the BJP of tampering with the sanctity of special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Jharkhand. The delegation met state chief electoral officer K Ravi Kumar and submitted a memorandum highlighting two separate incidents in Godda and Garhwa districts where Form 7 were recovered in bulk from the possession of BJP-appointed BLAs, alleging that the saffron party was conspiring to omit names of valid and eligible voters from voter lists by submitting the forms.“All district election officers must be directed to make the SIR process transparent to ensure that no eligible voters left out. Apart deletion of names through submitting form 7 must be put on hold with immediate effect in Garhwa, Godda and other districts and conduct physical verification before deletion,” the memorandum read.

Refuting the claims, BJP’s state spokesperson Pratul Shahdeo said the INDIA bloc was indulging in appeasement politics. “Raising the allegations of BJP appointed BLAs of striking out names of a particular community, they (India bloc) are again indulging in appeasement politics. Under the rights given by the Election Commission, if BLAs find voters who are not genuine citizens of India, they have the right to flag the issues, as the final call will be taken by the Commission.”
