Vasai: An eight-year-old girl died a day after she was allegedly given injections at a clinic in Vasai (E), prompting her parents to claim the treatment caused her death and police filed an FIR against the doctor.The Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation’s health department said the doctor, Dhupchand Nishad, 42, practises electro-homeopathy and is not registered with the Maharashtra Medical Council. Officials said he was not authorised to prescribe allopathic medicines or administer injections.The child, Mariyam Mohammed Ansari, lived with her parents in Bhoidapada, Vasai (E). Around 8.30pm on Monday, after she began vomiting, her mother took her to Rahul Clinic in Rajavali. Nishad examined the girl, prescribed tablets and allegedly administered injections in both her upper arms.The next morning, Mariyam began bleeding from her nose and mouth and died soon after. Her mother alleged the injections were responsible for the death.Waliv police sent the body for postmortem examination. Senior inspector Pradeep Kerkar said the viscera report, expected within a week, would help establish the exact cause of death. Police have also served Nishad a notice.A civic health department team inspected the clinic and seized a large quantity of used and broken allopathic injections and medicines.Dr Bhakti Chaudhary, head of the civic health department, said electro-homeopathy practitioners are not authorised to administer injections or prescribe allopathic medicines. “However, the doctor had administered injections to the girl,” she said.Acting on a complaint by civic medical officer Dr Srinivas Dudhamal, Waliv police registered a case under Section 318 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for alleged cheating and under Sections 33 and 33(A) of the medical practitioners’ law for practising medicine without authorisation. Police said the investigation will continue after reports arrive.
