Bokaro: Illegal parking of trucks and other heavy vehicles along key roads in Bokaro is under the transport department’s scanner, with the administration warning of action against vehicles parked in unsafe locations. The issue of heavy vehicles being parked along major roads in Bokaro has raised concerns over traffic congestion and road safety, particularly on the Jodhadih More-ITI More stretch. Trucks parked on or near the carriageway obstruct moving traffic, reduce visibility and create accident risks, especially at night when disabled vehicles lack adequate warning signs and lighting. The transport department has now sought stricter compliance with parking and safety norms.District transport officer Maruti Minz held a meeting with representatives of the Bokaro Truck Association on Thursday to address traffic disruption and road-safety concerns caused by roadside parking. Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI), Bokaro, was also present.Officials specifically directed that no truck or heavy vehicle should be parked on the main road between Jodhadih More and ITI More. “Drivers were told not to stop vehicles inside the white side line or on the main carriageway and to use designated lay-bys or safe parking areas instead,” said the DTO.The department also stressed safety measures for breakdowns and accidents. Drivers and owners must immediately place reflective tape, traffic cones and warning signs around disabled vehicles, particularly at night, when poor visibility can increase the risk of rear-end collisions.Heavy vehicles must also have clearly visible number plates and functioning parking, side and other required lights. Violations will invite action under the Motor Vehicles Act and applicable rules.Truck association representatives assured officials that drivers would be instructed not to park along the Jodhadih More-ITI More stretch. They also sought designated parking facilities for heavy vehicles in Kandra and BIADA areas. The transport department said enforcement against illegal parking and traffic violations would continue regularly.
