Man accused of killing wife in Gopalganj
A 25-year-old woman, Nazia Khatoon, was found dead with a slit throat and severe injuries in Gopalganj district, allegedly at the hands of her husband following a family dispute. The accused husband is currently absconding, while his father has been detained for questioning. The victim’s family alleges a history of harassment and a premeditated murder.

Patna: A 25-year-old woman was allegedly killed by her husband following a family dispute in Gopalganj district. Her body, with a slit throat and multiple injury marks, was recovered on Sunday from Amhi Banke village under Kateya police station area.The deceased has been identified as Nazia Khatoon, wife of Shahalu Ali. The accused husband is absconding, while his father has been detained for questioning, police said.Acting on information from locals, police reached the spot and took the victim’s father-in-law into custody. The body was sent to sadar hospital for the postmortem.Kateya SHO Awadhesh Kumar said a case has been registered based on a complaint lodged by the victim’s family. “The husband is on the run and efforts are on to trace him. The detained father-in-law is being questioned,” he said.Family members said Nazia had married Shahalu, a resident of Amhi Banke village, seven years ago. The couple has two children — a son and a daughter. While the initial years of marriage were peaceful, her husband had allegedly been harassing her over various issues in recent years.Relatives alleged that a dispute escalated on Saturday night, following which Nazia was attacked with a sharp weapon. She died on the spot due to multiple injuries. The victim’s family, who reached the village after being informed, alleged that it was a premeditated murder and accused the in-laws of sustained harassment.Police said the investigation is underway and raids are being conducted to arrest the absconding husband.
