Patna: All the sitting members of the principals’ transfer committees in different universities of the state nominated by the former chancellor have been withdrawn by the present incumbent with effect from May 15, according to a notification issued from Lok Bhawan here on Wednesday. The process of nomination of new members has already been initiated.Chancellor Syed Ata Hasnain has also initiated steps for constituting three separate task forces comprising well-known educationists to suggest reforms in higher education after visiting different states and studying their best practices.According to the notification, Lok Bhawan has requested the vice-chancellors (VCs) of all universities to submit panels with five names each for facilitating the nomination of their representative to the transfer committee of each university. The terms of all the present nominated members are ending on May 15.The VCs have been directed to send the names of only distinguished educationists with high moral values and great academic caliber for being nominated to the committee. The names recommended by them should have adequate experience in administering higher education institutions. They have been directed to furnish names, complete biodata and related documents to the chancellor’s secretariat at the earliest so that the chancellor could consider the proposals thoroughly. It should also be ensured that there should not be any case pending against them with the vigilance or any disciplinary action.The decision to set up a task force for the much-needed reforms in the state’s higher education system was taken at a meeting of the officials of the education department and Lok Bhawan, along with the VCs of different universities. The VCs were directed to implement at least 10 modules of the Samarth portal in their respective universities in the current academic session (2026-27) itself. The chancellor also reviewed the progress in the establishment of new degree colleges in blocks lacking any higher education facility.
