Ranchi: A special CID court on Wednesday rejected the bail plea of Abhay Tiwari, an accused in alleged irregularities in JPSC and JSSC examinations. The court also denied bail to co-accused Umesh Kumar.CID had registered a case under BNS and the Jharkhand Competitive Examination (Prevention and Redressal of Unfair Means in Recruitment) Act. Tiwari is among 21 people arrested.Tiwari was marketing manager of TSR Data Processing Ltd, which conducted JPSC examinations. CID described him as the alleged kingpin, claiming he used his success in several examinations to lure candidates with promises of helping them qualify through unfair means. Investigators alleged he collected between Rs 5 lakh and Rs 25 lakh from candidates.His lawyers, Sashi Bhushan Sah and Amitesh Kumar, denied his involvement in paper leaks or OMR sheet tampering, arguing that the allegations were vague and required judicial scrutiny.The court will hear on Monday the bail plea of Abhay’s brother, Akshay Kumar Tiwari, accused of using unfair means in the JSSC Combined Graduate Level Examination.In a related development, teacher Ravi Shankar surrendered before the court after his anticipatory bail plea was rejected. He was sent to Birsa Munda Central Jail.
