Patna: The 120 Infantry Battalion of the Bihar Regiment celebrated its 77th Raising Day with military honour and patriotic fervour at the Bihar Regimental Centre (BRC) ground here on Saturday.The battalion was raised on Aug 22, 1949, at Cuttack under the command of Colonel J R Shah. It has since participated in several military operations and earned laurels for the Bihar Regiment through its valour and dedication. The battalion has received the Konark Chakra and Chief of the Army Staff Commendation Card for its outstanding service during war and peace, BRC commandant Brig Rakesh Kumar Bora said.The Army band presented patriotic tunes, including ‘Vande Matram’, while Bora recalled the battalion’s history and sacrifices and paid floral tributes at the Veer Smriti Sthal.Officers, JCOs and other ranks attended the ceremony and remembered soldiers who made supreme sacrifices in the line of duty. Maj Jaiveer Yadav, subedar major Prakash Chandra and several serving and retired jawans also took part in the celebrations.
