Patna: Chief minister Samrat Choudhary on Friday launched 157 projects of the urban development and housing department (UDHD), involving an expenditure of Rs286 crore, through remote mode at a function held at Sankalp Sabhagar in Lok Sevak Awas, the chief minister’s residence.He also laid the foundation stone for Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan Park, to be developed on the “Waste to Wonder” theme in memory of JP, the architect of the 1974 movement. Choudhary said the park, estimated to cost Rs11.44 crore, would also depict the biography of Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan. “This park will become a unique centre of environmental conservation and public awareness,” he said.The CM said the solid waste management system is being further strengthened to make the city garbage-free and ensure that Patna looks clean and tidy. He added that the state govt is continuously working to make Bihar more beautiful and that several schemes of Patna Municipal Corporation, Patna Smart City Limited and Buidco, all under the UDHD, were launched during the programme. The projects are aimed at upgrading urban infrastructure and improving public amenities in Patna.Choudhary said the dream of a new modern township named Patliputra would be realised in the coming days. A major satellite township bearing the same name will be developed in Patna over 66,000 acres, offering international-level residential, educational, health, commercial and entertainment facilities. He said these schemes would not only make Patna a new model of modern urban development, but also take its historical glory and cultural identity to greater heights.He said the state govt’s goal is to make every city of Bihar an ideal centre of development, cleanliness and good governance. Through these initiatives, he said, the historical glory of Patna would be restored.Urban development and housing and information technology minister Nitish Mishra and UDHD principal secretary Vinay Kumar also addressed the programme, highlighting the department’s ongoing work and the govt’s focus on planned urban growth, improved civic services and cleaner cities across Bihar.
