Ranchi/Dhanbad: The 135th birth anniversary of Dr B R Ambedkar was celebrated with great enthusiasm and reverence across Jharkhand. In Ranchi, governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar and chief minister Hemant Soren offered floral tributes by garlanding Ambedkar’s statue in Doranda.Speaking on the occasion, Hemant said that the day marks a moment of pride for India. “Ambedkar’s contribution to the country’s democratic system is unforgettable. The entire nation salutes the constitutional framework crafted by him,” the CM said adding that he was a great social reformer who dedicated his life to the welfare and protection of rights of all sections and communities, including the poor, the backward, the exploited and the deprived. Different political parties too organised programmes at party offices to pay their tributes.In Dhanbad, at DRM Chowk, a large number of people gathered from early morning to pay floral tributes to Babasaheb’s statue. The National Federation of Ambedkar Mission organised a special function on the occasion.The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh observed the day as ‘Social Harmony Day.’ The event began with a quiz competition for children based on the life of Dr Ambedkar.
