Ramgarh: The Dhanbad division of East Central Railway (ECR) on Saturday collected Rs 4.87 lakh fine from people travelling by mail and express trains without tickets or for carrying unbooked luggage during a ticket checking drive across the division, officials said.Senior divisional commercial manager and senior public relations officer, Dhanbad division, Manish Saurabh, said, “Teams caught 557 passengers at stations and on board trains for travelling without tickets, travelling without proper authority, or carrying unbooked luggage. A total fine of Rs 4,87,660 was collected from offenders as part of the division’s continuing effort to curb ticketless and unauthorised travel.“The crackdown also led to a visible rush at unreserved ticket counters at several stations, where large crowds of passengers were seen purchasing tickets.ECR’s Dhanbad division officials advised passengers to enter platforms only with valid tickets and requested them to travel in the same class for which their ticket has been issued to avoid penalties during routine and surprise checking drives.
