Jamshedpur: Scores of JFC fans, including schoolchildren, marched from Sakchi roundabout to Armoury Ground, Bistupur, protesting Tata Steel’s decision to withdraw Jamshedpur Football Club from Indian Super League from the upcoming season.“The people of this region are emotionally attached to the ISL. Aspiring footballers dream of playing in the league, and we, as fans of Jamshedpur FC, are deeply disappointed by the sudden announcement to withdraw from the ISL,” said Sheikh Imran, co-founder of Red Miners.A fan, requesting anonymity, alleged that after Ratan Tata’s demise, some in Tata management were working against its sports legacy. “These forces want the company to focus solely on business and abandon the larger interests and sentiments of the people of this city,” he said.“I would urge Noel Tata, chairperson of Tata Trusts and a member of the Tata family, to come forward and take the initiative to persuade the board to reconsider its decision to withdraw from the ISL,” said protester Rukhsar Khanam.The protest followed a similar August 3 march demanding reconsideration.
