Dumka: Godda police recovered 18 stolen motorcycles and arrested three members of a vehicle theft gang operating across police station areas, SP Mukesh Kumar said on Friday.The breakthrough followed an investigation team formed on the SP’s directions. Led by Godda SDPO Akash Bhardwaj, the SIT gathered intelligence and conducted raids. The arrested accused were identified as Shahbaz Ansari of Dhainukatta-Jhapnibandh under Podaiyahat police station, Shehnabaz Ansari of Devdand under Devdand police station, and Kisnu Rajak of Gundli Tola, Baghmara, under Devdand police station. A case was registered at Godda Town Police Station, and they were forwarded to judicial custody.Police said the five-member gang surveyed weekly markets and crowded places, stole motorcycles and sold them cheaply in rural areas.“The recovery of 18 stolen motorcycles is a significant achievement in our ongoing drive against vehicle theft. Investigation has revealed that the gang has five members. Efforts are underway to identify and arrest the kingpin involved in disposing of the stolen motorcycles.”
