Ranchi: Jharkhand’s 1.63 crore existing voters in the 2026 electoral roll will not have to submit documents during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) after the first round of self and parental mapping got over on Monday, chief electoral officer K Ravi Kumar said on Tuesday. The state approximately has a total number of 2.64 crore voters.Kumar said the mapping of existing voters with Jharkhand’s 2003 SIR electoral roll, or previous SIR rolls of other states and Union Territories, was undertaken to reduce the number of voters required to submit documents during the notice and verification period from Aug 5 to Oct 3, 2026.These voters will only need to submit duly filled and signed pre-filled enumeration forms along with recent colour photographs.House-to-house enumeration by BLOs will begin on June 30 and continue till July 29, 2026. The second and final mapping session for remaining unmapped voters will be conducted during this period.Kumar said migrant workers, students studying outside state and others temporarily away need not appear before BLOs. “Mapping can be done through family members, the BOOK-A-CALL facility on ECINET or BLO phone numbers displayed on house stickers,” he said.Unmapped voters must provide previous SIR registration details of themselves or parents. Lists will be published after Aug 5 at polling stations and on the CEO website.
