Ranchi: The JPSC-JSSC Reform Manch, one of the organisations that spearheaded a 26-day protest last month over alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations, submitted a memorandum to chief minister Hemant Soren on Saturday.Rahul Kranti, who handed over the memorandum, demanded the immediate withdrawal of FIRs registered against students who took part in the agitation. The organisation also sought legal action against police personnel and others allegedly involved in using force against the protesters. It further called for a CBI probe into alleged irregularities in examinations conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) since 2014.The students had staged what the organisation described as a peaceful 26-day agitation over allegations of paper leaks, OMR sheet manipulation and other malpractices in JPSC and JSSC examinations. The Manch claimed that FIRs were lodged at different police stations during and after the protest in an attempt to suppress the students’ movement.Referring to Supreme Court directions issued on Sept 1 concerning FIRs against student protesters across the country, the memorandum said students in Jharkhand should be granted similar relief.The memorandum was submitted three days after a BJP delegation met chief secretary Avinash Kumar with similar demands, including the withdrawal of cases against students involved in recruitment exam protests. The party had given the govt 48 hours to act, warning that it would launch a statewide agitation if its demands were not addressed.After the deadline passed without any govt decision, the BJP on Friday announced protests across all 24 districts from Sept 8 to 11.
