Daltonganj: Medinirai Medical College Hospital in Daltonganj concluded a week-long anti-ragging campaign on Tuesday as admission for the first-year MBBS course for the 2026-27 academic session is set to gather pace, sources said. The campaign ended without the media being invited to assess its impact or the anti-ragging ecosystem built during the week.Senior professor of the biochemistry department, Devalraju Ravisankar said, “Under the supervision and monitoring of college principal Dr Jakka Srinivas Rao, a week-long anti- ragging campaign was launched on the campus.”He said the drive drew instant attention and warm participation from senior MBBS batches. The college currently has around 500 medicos and is awaiting 100 freshers for the 2026 batch.Principal Rao said, “It’s admission season. We are very vigilant about this issue of ragging. We have an anti- ragging committee. It’s very alert and sensitive to this issue.”Rao added, “Senior MBBS students of this college have been reminded of strict guidelines of the National Medical Commission in respect of the prevention and prohibition of any kind of ragging as any violation of it bears far-reaching ramifications and serious consequences.”Sources said the campaign included anti-ragging posters, slogans and skit performances in which senior students used simple props, distinct voices and expressive actions to highlight the consequences of ragging, whether done inadvertently or mindfully.Medical college sources said there has been no case of “aggressive ragging” on the campus since MBBS courses began here in 2019.
