Chennai: Tamil Nadu assembly secretary R Santhi has sent a notice to AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami asking him to appear before assembly speaker J C D Prabhakar on July 30 to offer explanation on his complaint against accepting the resignation of four former AIADMK MLAs who joined TVK.EPS had complained against the former AIADMK MLAs, P Sathayabama (Dharapuram), Esakki Subbiah (Ambasamudram), S Jeyakumar (Perunthurai) and Marakatham Kumaravel (Maduranthagam) and sought their disqualification.According to the notice dated July 24, all four MLAs were also asked to appear before the speaker on July 30 and each were given separate timings. The notice said that EPS shall also appear and present his case before the speaker.

Assembly sources said that if accepts the notice and appears before the speaker, he would also be present at the time when MLAs would be giving their explanation to the speaker.The letter comes after EPS had filed a complaint with the speaker urging him not to accept their resignations since they were facing disqualification charges.All the four MLAs voted against AIADMK in the floor test on May 13 and resigned on May 25 and 26 after EPS filed an anti-defection complaint.
