Navi Mumbai: Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation’s commissioner Kailas Shinde directed that pre-monsoon works in Navi Mumbai should be completed by May 15 and asked all authorities to coordinate so citizens do not face problems during the monsoon and the system remains ready for relief work. Various govt agencies attended a review meeting recently under the city disaster management committee where a decision was taken to wrap up the monsoon-related work by the stipulated time.In the review, officials took case-by-case updates on essential works and were asked to expedite them. Priority was given to cleaning drains and large sewers, and Shinde directed that silt removed from drain and sewer banks should be cleared immediately after it dried, slightly avoiding inconvenience to the residents. On dangerous buildings, written instructions were to be issued for structural audits and appeals made through the media.
