Jamshedpur: Opposition parties are obstructing his govt’s efforts to turn the visions of statehood movement activists into a reality, chief minister Hemant Soren said on Saturday.Soren, while addressing a gathering in Kadma where Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) observed the 39th death anniversary of its top functionary Nirmal Mahto, indirectly referred to the BJP and said its state leadership was trying to create roadblocks in development and foment unrest on instructions of the party’s top leadership.“When Jharkhand was formed after a struggle that went on for decades, they (BJP) govt the opportunity to form govt. However, they built the state on a weak foundation, while its basic institutions and systems remained in a poor state,” he said have backed the protest.Even though the state was carved out for the betterment of tribal communities, capitalist and oppressive forces which governed the state for years exploited them, Soren claimed.Soren’s remarks came amid the ongoing protests by job aspirants in the alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations conducted by JPSC and JSSC. Opposition parties, led by the BJP have backed the protest. Soren did not take questions on the protests after the programme.“When we came to the office after a hard-fought battle against our opponents, we not only rebuilt the state’s basic foundations but also made sincere efforts to secure the best for its 3.25 crore people,” he said.CM said scores of people sacrificed their lives for the creation of a separate state so that tribal people have a fair share in decision making and keeping human welfare at the centre of state policies.“Guided by the thoughts and ideology of our martyrs, we are working towards building a state that reflects the dreams and aspirations of those who sacrificed their lives for Jharkhand,” the CM said.Reacting to CM’s remarks, BJP state secretary said Soren’s allegations were unfounded. “The students’ protest has disturbed him deeply. Let’s not forget that he also holds the education portfolio. The students and job aspirants are demanding an answer from the CM and he is running away,” Singh said.
