Daltonganj: A 28-year-old woman died in an accident on NH-39 on Friday while she was on her way to tie Rakhi to her brother. The incident occurred near Power Grid under Nawa Bazaar police station limits.“The deceased, identified as Arti Kumari, was travelling to Barwadeeh from Chhaterpur on a motorcycle which was being driven by her Rangeela Singh (32),” Sanjay Yadav, the officer in-charge of Nawa Bazaar police station, said.Arti was riding pillion with both legs on one side when the motorcycle suddenly bumped and jumped on the highway. Police said there was no collision with any vehicle and suspect she suffered a fall and sustained an injury to her head. The couple were taken to Medinirai Medical College and Hospital in Daltonganj where Arti died. Rangeela’s condition remained stable. None of them were wearing helmets, police said.
