Koderma: Panic spread across platform 1 at Koderma Junction on Thursday afternoon when a fire broke out in the rearmost coach of the Koderma-Barkakana Passenger train. The train was scheduled to depart at 3:15 PM when passengers noticed a strong burning smell and thick smoke rising from the last carriage. They instantly raised an alarm and informed the railway personnel present at the station.Acting swiftly, the railway staff rushed to the scene and immediately uncoupled the affected coach from the rest of the train. Their swift decision successfully contained the flames, preventing the fire from spreading to the neighbouring coaches where many passengers were waiting for departure. The disconnected coach was specifically reserved for differently-abled passengers, and fortunately, it was completely empty at the time of the incident, ensuring no injuries or casualties occurred.Following the detachment, railway workers and Railway Protection Force personnel, led by RPF in charge Deepak Kumar and station master Vikas Kumar, immediately began firefighting operations. Staff initially used seven portable fire extinguishers and sprayed water using a nearby station hose to manage the blaze. A fire brigade team soon arrived on the platform and completely extinguished the fire after a strenuous effort.DRM Akhilesh Mishra arrived at Koderma station to take stock of the situation.
