Ranchi: The Met office on Friday issued a yellow warning of thunderstorm and lightning at isolated places over the state in the next two days and for heavy rainfall at isolated places in northeastern, northwestern and central parts of Jharkhand in the following two days.According to the Met office bulletin, thunderstorm and lightning are likely at isolated places over the state on Saturday and Sunday.For Monday, the weather office predicted heavy rain likely at isolated places in the northeastern (Dumka, Deoghar, Giridih, Jamtara, Pakur, Sahibganj and Godda districts), adjoining central (Dhanbad) and southeastern (East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, Seraikela-Kharsawan) parts of the state, along with thunderstorm and lightning at isolated places over the state.For Tuesday, the bulletin said heavy rain likely at isolated places in the northwestern (Garhwa, Chatra, Palamu and Latehar) and central (Hazaribag, Koderma, Ramgarh, Bokaro, Dhanbad, Ranchi, Lohardaga, Gumla and Khunti) parts of the state and thunderstorm and lightning at isolated places over the state.“A cyclonic circulation is likely to form over the northwest Bay of Bengal and therefore parts of Jharkhand could receive heavy rainfall,” Abhishek Anand, deputy director of Ranchi Met office, told TOI. “Since there are chances of thunderstorms and lightning across various areas in the state, people should take due precautions so that they are not struck by lightning,” Anand said.“These are times when people get struck by lightning and in most cases lives are lost,” he added.In the past 24 hours till Saturday, light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorm occurred at a few places over the state. The highest rainfall of 75.5 mm was recorded at Hunterganj (Chatra district).The highest maximum temperature of 33.5 degrees Celsius was recorded at Bokaro, while the lowest temperature of 22 degrees Celsius was recorded at Namkum (Ranchi). The city recorded a maximum temperature of 26.3°C and a minimum of 23.4°C.
