Ranchi: A retired bureaucrat in Jharkhand govt was allegedly found hanging in a flat in the city’s Morabadi area under Lalpur police station limits on Sunday.Sunil Kumar Singh (61), who retired as the Ranchi deputy development commissioner last year, was a resident of Patna in Bihar. He had been living alone at his apartment near Sidho-Kanhu Park in Morabadi after retirement, police said.Uttam Kumar, sub-inspector at Lalpur police station, said Singh’s cook entered his apartment, whose front door was open, around 10:30 am and found him hanging from a ceiling fan. She then informed the police.“Preliminary investigation indicates that he died by suicide. We recovered a suicide note from the flat where he detailed his sufferings due to age-related ailments. It appears that he was mentally disturbed, which prompted him to take his own life. However, we are not neglecting other angles and have launched an investigation into the matter. Forensic teams also visited the spot,” Kumar said.Singh’s body was handed over his family members after postmortem examination on Sunday. Police said his wife lives in Patna while his two sons, both engineers, live in different cities.
