Jamshedpur: A 63-year-old woman was allegedly held hostage and robbed by three persons, including a woman posing as a census worker, at Shri Krishna Udyan on Road No. 15 in Jawaharnagar under Mango police station limits on Monday.According to the complaint, Leelawati Amma was alone in her flat when a woman knocked and introduced herself as a census worker. After persuading Leelawati to open the door, she entered, followed by two men who forced their way in.The trio overpowered Leelawati and held her hostage for nearly 30 minutes. They allegedly assaulted and threatened her, forced her to hand over the gold chain she was wearing and her earrings, and searched the flat for valuables.Leelawati suffered facial injuries and lost a tooth. Before fleeing, the accused allegedly locked her in the balcony.She raised an alarm, prompting neighbours to rush, rescue her and alert other residents. Her husband, B S Pillai (65), a sales manager at an automobile showroom in Dimna, reached the spot after being informed.Police visited the flat, questioned Leelawati and began efforts to identify and arrest the accused. “CCTVs in the surroundings are being examined to identify the culprits,” said an investigation officer.
