Solar panels stolen from Palamu govt school

Daltonganj: Three solar panels were stolen from Rajykrit Utkramit Madhya Vidyalaya, Musrumu, under Ramgarh police station in Palamu district.School in-charge Junul Surin said an FIR was lodged with local police on Thursday against unidentified miscreants. He said the three solar panels, installed atop the school kitchen shed, were stolen on the night of July 22/23.Ramgarh police station officer in charge Om Prakash Sao said police have begun an investigation into the incident. The latest theft follows two earlier cases: one in Latehar district, where miscreants stole two sets of football jerseys from a govt school, and another in Palamu, where thieves removed a biometric device and other items.Despite being an upgraded govt middle school that teaches up to Class 8, Rajykrit Utkramit Madhya Vidyalaya has fewer than 50 enrolled students.Surin said poverty forces many children in the area to assist their mothers in earning a livelihood instead of attending school.“Forty-eight is the number of enrolment here. The average attendance during the mid-day meal is around 20 to 22,” Surin said. The school now has only two para teachers.
